1. Use /etc/inittab to have init start it directly.
2. Add an entry in the rc files (two major varieties, SysV and BSD)
   to have init start it slightly later in the boot cycle.
3. Use a supervisor system of some kind (such as daemontools) to
   run and restart it.
4. Have an autologin user and put it in the rc files for that
   user.

Everything can be classified according to how many levels away
from init the process is started.
