I could not locate gpilot. I could locate gnome-pilot but I was not
able to remove it without affecting the Ubuntu desktop.  Just in case
I removed Evolution and as much of gnome-pilot as I could.

I went into jpilot Preferences and set "serial port" to usb: and it
worked like a charm.
