What sort of wireless sniffing you trying to do?

Wireshark has the ability to pick up on 802.11 beacon packets on top of
the rest of the packets which are shared with wired networks.

If you're looking for something that spans wireless networks, kismet has
the ability to create pcap files of the wireless networks that it detects.
These pcap files can then be read by wireshark.
