This is a problem which is specific to your computer and perhaps a few
other computers since many many people use the mass storage device
specification for all sorts of devices from ipods, phones, hard drives
and usb memory sticks so it might be worth investigating the problem
on your computer; is this a laptop or a desktop and are you able to
bring it with you?

It might have been a good idea to a have attended the linux install
fest which is specifically set up for these kinds of issues, next one
is in 3 months right?

If you want to conduct some self admin and see what dmesg is doing you
might have an odd fault in your kernel which an upgrade may solve.

Best Regards, Martin Owens

A short time after recognizing and opening the stick the system will close the stick and reopen it in another window. It might then close and reopen the stick more than 10 times in 5-10 minutes.
