There were huge changes to ATA from 2.6.15-2.6.20.  2.6.18 added
Native Command Queuing (NCQ for SATA).  I noticed that 2.6.18 reported
errors from hdparm -t /dev/md0 when I tried it on the new 2.6.18
kernel with my Adaptec card.  Dunno if this helps or not.  The new
sub-system is libata.  Is it even possible for any of this to effect
the software RAID array superblock?  I doubt it...
