Widescreen: 16x9 or 16x10 aspect ratio such as 1280x768
Standard: 4x3 aspect ratio such as 1280x1024

Some people can't think of a 1280x768 as being a 1024x768 with
extra width; they intuitively grasp it as a 1280x1024 with the
bottom 256 pixels cut off.
