Personal preference on the use of the word "Windows": I try not propagate Microsoft's domination of the word "Windows" by referring to "Microsoft Windows" simply as "windows", rather I write "Microsoft Windows" or "MS Windows".  Good fodder for a blog rant - who wants to get slash dotted?
