If one file owned by root was part of the problem, perhaps there are
other files owned by root also contributing to the problem.

A quick fix if this is the case would be to change ownership of
everything in your home directory:

    sudi chown -R donlevey:donlevey /home/donlevey

(assuming your login id is "donlevey")
