Yep.  Ubuntu 9.04 runs well on the next to most recent generation (non- 
unibody) MBPs.  Most things work out of the box.  A few such as  
wireless and trackpad require manual package installs.  reboot doesn't  
work but that kernel bug isn't unique to Macs.
