I'm about 99% certain nothing needed to be patched on my end for 2.6.27.x.

Always a possibility. It Just Works for me on the two x86_64 boxes I've tried
it out on. I use kvm anywhere I can, but I do have these two older Opteron
boxes without hardware virt support that can still do 64-bit guests with
VMware...
