solr question

Hi all.

I have 1.7 TB of files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, shell scripts),
various small databases and a couple of websites I want to scrape and
would like to be able to find stuff a little easier.  I'm reading
through the docs for Apache Solr and it looks pretty interesting.

Has anybody on the list used Solr?  What do you think?  Is there an
alternative free project I should check out?
