Trouble with new computer

I ran into this exact same issue (except for the TigerDirect part) on a
machine I tried to install on. Windows would seemingly run the entire
installer, but never create anything bootable. Ubuntu would die and
reboot part way through. It turned out it was memory errors, and was
determined using the regular Ubuntu-provided memory tests.
