SSD in regular laptop? or Accelerometer?

Also keep in mind not all ssds are created equal.  Intels are expensive but have much better performance, relyability and longevity features, than a budget brand.  I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the pata ssds are really just converted flash cards taking advantage of the ssd craze.  Wich is an option depending on your performance needs. Do your research before investing. I would further compare some of the more rugged laptop spindle drives. 

Finally keep in mind you can buy a new laptop for the price of a high end ssd.  And in 6-12 months they will be half the price or less...

Depends on the age of the laptop. Older laptops are PATA, newer ones are 
SATA. SATA SSDs are common, PATA SSDs less so; they exist but you're not 
likely to find them at Micro Center or other local sources.
