Basically, whether you are dealing with Comcast or Verizon, you are
dealing with a big phone corporation. I do really like having fibre in
the house.
The reason Comcast is going 100% digital is strictly bandwidth.
Currently they have to carry Internet, HD, Digital TV, and Analog TV.
(In contrast, Verizon FIOS is 100% digital). Additionally, all cable
carriers (Verizon, Comcast, Charter, ...) have on demand, and some
degree of 2-way cable. I've had Comcast, AT&T BI, MediaOne, and Hiway 1
(same carrier) with very few problems. Recently we had an outage, but
that was due to a down cable at the end of the street (may have been
caused by an accident). But, I know other people who had nothing but
problems with Comcast.
