[OT] - mysql question

Hi Folks,

sorry for the off topic post, but if there are any mySQL gurus out there
I was wondering if they could explain the difference between mysql's

'wait_timeout' setting and their 'interactive_timeout' setting ... I've
googled quite a bit, and its all rather hazy ...

I'm using the mysqli class, and am trying to control the timeout setting
by setting the mysqli->options but it does not seem to be doing much ...

any pointer or explanations welcome :)
