In the past I definitely would have recommended Evolution.  Its very similar
to Outlook in how it works.

The past few releases have been extremely unstable for me.  This may just be
because I was using it to tie into an Exchange server.  A completely local
installation may be more stable.

You may also want to check out Chandler.  http://chandlerproject.org/
