[Discuss] xsane problem

computer 1:
  asus eee pc 1005ha
  ubuntu 11.10 installed from scratch
  prints fine to wireless printer hp d110
  xsane does not find printer
  xsane worked fine under 11.04
  deinstalled/reinstalled xsane -- no help

computer 2:
  acer aspire one d255e
  ubuntu 11.10 upgraded from 11.04
  printer/xsane both work fine

any suggestions?
