not so sure about this. can we make comparisons to other devices? what 
about running an automobile versus running a computer? all cars need a 
speedometer, but it is not placed the same [or looks the same] in 
various manufacturer's devices.

dunno, perhaps my comparison is flawed.

again, apple can do that. because they will sue your ass to the poor 
house if you try to do something else. linux cannot do that because 
there is no phalanx of linux lawyers to initiate the law suits.

also, there are two competing models of growth here:
- top down [apple]
- bottom up [linux]

i do not agree with this, but have no desire to convince you otherwise, 
as it is your decision to run with what you like. to my way of thinking, 
it'd be like trying to convince you to change your shoes to ones that i 
prefer when it's actually your feet that are in them.
