I use both OwnCloud and CrashPlan[1].  One is file syncing and the other
is a backup strategy, which may have a similar smell but a very
different taste.  I expect if you tried pointing OwnCloud at / to back
up your system it would not be pretty.


[1] It's working pretty well for me, except some aspects of the UI don't
make sense to me.  I can't find out how to do simple things like "I know
you're backing up periodically, but I want to back up now".  My current
problem, which is all my fault, is that I chose to back up to an
external USB hard drive, which tend to disconnect from the machine when
connected for several days straight.  I have a SATA hard drive I hope to
slap in the machine and back up to this weekend.
