Fedora implemented a solution to this in debuginfo rpms.  You can
install them on demand to make your core-dumps of all your
distro-provided programs more useful:
  https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/StackTraces

The ABRT tool can even auto install the debuginfo packages for you when
making a bug report.
