Yup. Dropbox can't replicate hard links. The backing storage is AWS
buckets which don't do POSIX.

Privacy issues aside, if you really want to use third party storage with
your own backup system I suggest getting a small EC2 instance running
Linux and a couple of EBS volumes with mirrored Btrfs or ZFS.
