Having been a contractor I routinely signed a non-competition. A friend of
mine was sued by his contract agency. He won the law suit. I was working
for a contract agency when they got sold. They screwed up my recods. I
didn't know who my contact was. They also said that HP had no record of me
although my contract was at HP. It seems that the acquiring contract agency
always dealt directly with HR where my contract was directly with the HP
group. They threatened me with a law suit if I went elsewhere. It was my
practice to line up potential contracts at the end of my contract in the
case I was not renewed. So I then went to another contract agency at Compaq
at the time. Never heard anything from that agency again.
