I run the Dropbear sshd server on my android phone when I'm connected to my
home LAN, and I use rsync from my laptop to backup the phone. I've found
this far more reliable than USB for backing up my phone.

Looks like dropbear isn't available for the Fire tables. I did find a Fire
app called "SSH/SFTP Server" that I haven't tried yet. Not sure if it does
rsync, but perhaps sftp may suffice?
