In the news this week that Radio Shack closing a bunch of stores, on the
heels of their super bowl commercial, which I think was trying to say
that they are no longer stuck in the 80s. Yet their cell phone shop
approach doesn't seem to be working all that great either. Some in the
press speculate they might pivot and cater more to makers, said almost
as if they didn't realize that's what Radio Shack did in the 80s.

Well, if they don't do it, others will. Today's email flyer from Micro
Center features a big banner at the top advertising that they now carry
MakerBot products:

The site shows they have the desktop 3D scanner ($950), Replicator 2
Desktop 3D Printer ($2000), and Replicator 2x 3D Printer Dual Extrusion
($2400). A few of each in stock in Cambridge.

So now you can go out and pick up a 3D printer as an impulse purchase. :-)

Probably even more important to a user of 3D printers is that they also
have a selection of filament in stock:

(1 or 2 spools each in about 2 dozen colors. Most priced around $50.)
