There might be some differences in I/O port address and so forth that need to be dealt with. It's certainly annoying that Adaptec doesn't publish the board specifictions any more. I suppose they got tired of other companies making Adaptec-clone boards (there are a lot of SCSI host adapters out there with a 1542 compatibility mode), but closing up their specs might hurt them more in the long run. -- Mark J.
