Carlos Mora> I'm having one heck of a time trying to get LILO to install. Carlos Mora>The disk that I'm using is a Micropolis 4011 IDE drive. It has a Carlos Mora>geometry of 2048,15,63. When I run LILO I get an error message about Carlos Mora>the cylinder being greater that 1023. Is ther any way around this Carlos Mora>problem? from sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/docs/hardware/Hardware-HOWTO Large IDE drives will work fine with Linux. With kernels prior to about 1.1.47 you will need to run with LBA disabled which may confuse DOS if you wish to share the drive. Your boot partition must lie in the first 1024 cylinders due to PC BIOS limitations. or from tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/docs/HOWTO/mini/Large-IDE disk geometry calculation 2048*15*63*(512 bytes/sector) = 990904320 bytes So you drive is 990Meg? Any IDE drive bigger than 5??Meg is one of the new EIDE or Large-IDE drives. These drives are not directly supported, but the tsx-11 HOWTO should tell you how to do it.
