If I attach a Syqeset EZ-135 to my Linux System (Slackware kernel 1.2.13, Adaptek 2842 controller (local bus)), I have experience multiple system crashes, particularly when transferring large files. The symptoms of the problem are similar to previous kernels (using the same controller), which, when I removed the controller and replace with a 1542B contoller when away (kernel was compiled would support both 1542 and 2842 controllers). Tjhe[2 The previous problem occurred with slower (SCSI I drives, such as Maxtor LXT213-S). With a previous upgrade, this problem disappeared, but I had problems (crashes) using a NEC CD-ROM reader (model 81?). With kernel 2.1.13 both problems went away, but similar symptoms occur when I try to use the Syquest EZ-135, either for DOS or Linux formatted disks. I am able to use the Syqest on my home system (Kernel 2.0.8, Adaptek 1542B controller), without this problem, but I get a warning message on boot if a disk is not present when I boot. Any solutions? chein at ziggy.radex.plh.mil or chein at aol.com
