I saw this too. What I found was that sendmail has logic to declare to be an error if sendmail on machine A receives mail from another host B where B is known to be configured in DNS as an MX for A. This is disabled with a COMPILILE TIME option. I can't remember the exact option as I'm not near that machine (it's off-network now similar to what Albert does). Check the source code for MX lookup. I'll email the option when I get back to the office. >X-POP3-Rcpt: rodney at wizard >From: Albert Cahalan <albert at ccs.neu.edu> >Subject: sendmail error >To: linux-sig at bcs.org >Date: Thu, 7 Dec 1995 14:56:48 -0500 (EST) >Sender: owner-linux-sig at bcs.org >Reply-To: linux-sig at bcs.org > >I get error messages sent to the postmaster that contain this: > > ----- Transcript of session follows ----- >554 MX list for zoomtel.com. points back to iota.zoomtel.com >554 <tonyf at zoomtel.com>...
