I got turned off on the Dummies book when a high school computer science teacher was learning C from the C for Dummies book, and many of the examples had: void main() { } As a language lawyer (because I worked with LINT for so long), main always returns an int. (This is required both in ANSI/ISO as well as K&R). Mosty compilers allow this unfortunately. I hate language books that violate the language spec. Kind of like an English grammar book that uses "ain't" in examples of good English. +----------------------------------------------+ Gerald Feldman <gaf at mediaone.net> Boston Computer Solutions and Consulting ICQ#156300
