Wednesday, 17 February 1999 XTC - the X Tool Collection Eugene O'Neil will be demonstrating the X Tool Collection (XTC), an X Window client library written in pure Java. XTC bypasses the need for native C libraries such as xlib by directly implementing the low-level X Window protocol, taking full advantage of Java's object-oriented, multi- threaded environment. XTC is remarkably efficient for a "pure" Java library, since it relies on the X Window server do do most of the real work.
