For output, take an existing html page and prepend "Content-type: text/html\n\n" to it. For input, there are two methods, "GET" and "PUT", which are encapsulated in most toolkits. I assume you'll be using perl for your scripts, in which case you'll want to use the CGI module that's a standard part of the Perl distribution. I'd also recommend upgrading to the latest stable version of perl, which is currently 5.005_03.
