Check it out. Printer setup with all current distributions is relatively straightforward. Red Hat 5.x is click, click, done. The original beef is that the 2.2 kernels renumbered the devices in the kernel and considerably restructured what it takes to configure and recognize them. When dropping a 2.2 kernel onto a system distributed with a 2.0.x kernel, there is some pain. Most of this is on the kernel side.
