While there is a version of Linux that runs on a Mac, it is not mainstream. 386, 486, and low end Pentium systems make a far better platform for teaching Linux. First, you should be able to scrounge one of these systems. Secondly, all the major distributions support these systems. The only Mac version I know of is: MkLinux, which I belive does not support the Quadra 630. ------------------------------------ The MkLinux Distribution (MkLinux is a distribution of Linux for the Power Macintosh 6100, 7100, or 8100 series and PowerComputing 100 or 120 machines. In December, the MkLinux team released a new update which now supports the PowerMac 7200, 7500, 7600, 8200, 8500, 9500 and various other PowerMac PCI clones.)
