The first is the bandwidth to the ISP. With DSL, you have a dedicated bandwidth, with Cable, you are effectively on a LAN. I have rarely experienced and drop in bandwidth to M1X. The second factor is the ISP's infrastructure and connection to the Internet. For most non-business connections, you are sharing bandwidth will all others who use that ISP. $300/Mo is a very reasonable cost for a business to get a guaranteed 1.1Mbit. With cable modem residential service you get a shared 1.5Mbps asynch connection for $29.95/Mo.
