DSL/ISP recommendations for a new resident

My name is Sean Brown and I will be moving to the Boston area around the
first of September.  I am looking for recommendations on DSL
connectivity in the Swampscot, MA area as well as finding a linux
friendly ISP (Perhaps in some cases the two might be one and the same). 
I'd like to stay away from Media One if possible (unless it comes highly
recommended).  Suggestions?
