There are several ways to configure a multi-node network. One way that I might do it is to designate one node as the mail server. If one or more of the client nodes on the network were either Windows or Mac, I would configure this node as a POP server. I would also NFS export /var/spool/mail. On the client Linux or Unix systems I would mount /var/spool/mail from the server. Assuming that the server has a real IP address and is connected to the Internet, I would possibly set each client sendmail to use the server as a smart SMTP host. This should cover most instances. I am not an expert on sendmail, but I have been able to get it working with no problems. -- Jerry Feldman (HP On-Site Consultant) http://gbrweb.msd.ray.com/~gzf/ +-------------------------------------------------------+-----Note: ------+ | Raytheon Electronic Systems (W) (781)999-1837/1-1837 | My views may not| | Mail Stop: S3SG10 (F) (781)999-4030/1-4030 | reflect the | | 180 Hartwell Road (W) gzf at gbr.msd.ray.com | views of my | | Bedford, MA 01730-2498 (FWD:H+W) gaf at blu.org | employer. | +-------------------------------------------------------+-----------------+ - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
