recommendations for a multiple interface NIC

Greetings,

I'm in the market for PCI network interface.  I'd really like to get
a dual or quad port interface, but so far I haven't found anything in
my dreamy price range ($50).  I'm hoping someone on this list can
direct me towards a decent store for used/fell-off-the-truck materials.

Is anyone using the multi-port NIC's with any success?  I've got my eye
on a Compaq Netelligent controller, but need to haggle with the seller
a bit more...
