Derek, Yes, the Win95 machine mounts Samba shares OK, and if I use a DOS boot floppy with the M$ Client 3.0 software on it, I can access Samba OK from the Dell machine, too. It seems like a WFW problem, but setting "lm announce = true" didn't change anything. I also put in a "announce as = WfW" line, again with no change. Here's the global section of my smb.conf file: (I used Samba to get it to the "Bill" machine while preparing this email). # Samba config file created using SWAT # from horne.trg.nynex.com (192.168.19.2) # Date: 2000/01/07 19:26:55 # Global parameters [global] debug level = 9 workgroup = HORNE netbios name = SERVER server string = SAMBA %v on %h interfaces = eth0 log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 50 socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 preferred master = Yes domain master = Yes dns proxy = No lm announce = True lm interval = 30 ; wins support = Yes ; preload = myshare remote announce = 192.168.19.255 guest account = pcguest hosts allow = 192.168.19. I seem to remember, ever so vaguely, there being something about a bug involving the case of share names on Win3.X systems. -- "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"
