What SunOS version and platform CD are you trying to copy? I've burned sparc CDs with Xcdroast multiple times and they have always booted fine. When I went to make a copy of my Solaris 7 Intel CD, I found that it copied perfectly (CD -> disk -> CD), only to realize that the CD itself was never bootable to begin with and I still needed the floppy install bootdisk.
