Many older Macs run Linux. The hardware requirement for Linux is a Memory Management Unit (MMU) which has been present in Macs from the 68030 series onward. All PowerMacs can run Linux. The hangup is that the software has not been ported to all of the models. Use Google.Com to search for "linux" AND "macintosh".
