The mv command has (or perhaps had) that limitation on :: commercial Unix systems, but the mv command on Linux has no such :: limitation. :: but to be fair, a mv across filesystems is really implemented by cp like semanitcs not by mv (rename (2)) semantics.. it is a heck of a lot safer than "cp -p *; rm *" though as you get per file error checking.. -P - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
