In that case I would suggest you look into a2ps which converts ascii to postscript. I can't provide a link, but I think a random web search will turn it up fairly seaily. If not, e-mail me and I'll find out where we got it. I haven't used slackware in ages, so I can't speak for its native print filters... probably doesn't have much of anything since PV tends to leave a lot of things pretty raw.
