For what it's worth, I use an older Sony VAIO SuperSlim Pro PCG-Z505RX that I dual boot between Win98 and Linux (Slackware for me, Xfree 4.0).. It has a neomagic chipset, I believe, but its compatible with one of the X Servers... I purchased the laptop through clearanceclub.com...... Ethernet is built in and compatible, uses an external CDROM.. Hope this helps, Bryan --- Bryan Strawser, feanor at gondolin.org http://feanor.gondolin.org > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-discuss at blu.org [mailto:owner-discuss at blu.org]On Behalf Of > Sean Quinlan > Sent: Thursday, December 14, 2000 12:44 PM > To: discuss at blu.org > Cc: seanq at darwin.bu.edu > Subject: laptop recomendations > > > Does anyone have recommendations/warnings for laptop > manufacturers?
