Just run your own machine as an authoritative name server for your zone. It need not be advertised (that is, listed with an NS record), but it will prevent things going haywire when the real name servers collapse. Even if you run a name server process on your own in slave mode, that is a better option than trusting the name servers listed in /etc/resolv.conf.
