I know I seem to be about the only one interested in the IDE RAID solutions, but I spotted this in my emails today and thought it might yet perk up the interest of others. They are now offering a $1500 AMD Athlon based workstation with ATA/100-RAID using the Promise Fast Track controller board. I will note that their web site has some problems with configuration information which will become quickly evident if you go there: http://www.pogolinux.com/systems/Workstations_RAID/index.shtm Has anyone heard anything about it since there has been some conflicting information about running IDE RAID under Linux? And they appear to be making a killing on their upgrades, so I would suggest look into building your own. But for diehard SCSI fans, MSI now offers an Athlon board with UW3-160 and firewire on board. Could be the hot setup for do-it-yourselfers. - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
