We're not using the GCC compiler, we're using the Visual C++ compiler.
Since we're multiplatform, it would make sense to me to move towards the
gcc compiler, but that's not going to happen.

I really have a good understanding of the version numbers, so thanks to
all for that.  Now for the hard part...
