After further investigation ... the ports labeled "5" and "uplink" on the hub are both mapped to the same LED; presumably they're connected to the same port in the hub's guts, with different wiring (straight vs. crossover). Ports "3" and "4" are connected to other machines on the network and have never given me any trouble. Plugging the Linksys cable into port "1" or "2" seems to resolve the problem. I hadn't expected it would be *that* easy. :-) --sethg - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
