RedHat 7.0 shipped with a snapshot version of glibc and gcc/egcs which causes the binaries built on a RedHat 7.0 system to be incompatible with most other versions of Linux. The issue is as much a glibc issue as a compiler issue. They have also shipped kgcc which is the older 2.91.66 version of gcc for compiling kernels, but the glibc version is still a problem. For personal use, RH7 has a lot of new features worth loooking at, but for a development system some consider it broken. > -----Original Message----- > From: Glenn Burkhardt [mailto:glenn at aoi.ultranet.com] > Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2001 6:56 AM > To: discuss at Blu.Org > Subject: RH7 Compiler thing > > > I think I missed it - what's the issue? > > Thanks. > > - > Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with > "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the > message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored). > - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
