Both 'dump' and 'restore' can use the remote tape daemon - perhaps that's what you're thinking of? When used strictly locally, 'dump' won't use sockets at all. - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
