Where others have complained about bandwidth issues, mine has been excellent. I currently run a domain off my connection, so I have the same problem you have. I've mitigated (but not solved) it by using Domain Discover as my registrar. They offer fast, convenient SSL-enabled web administration for your domain. Like all registrars, they claim that up to 48 hours is required for your changes to take effect, but I've found that it's usually not more than a few hours. YMMV. In any case, changes take effect well before the typical 5-day period after which most MTAs scrub mail to you, so you shouldn't lose any mail that way, though the sender may receive transient failure bounces (meaning that they will retry until delivered or until the timeout period expires, which is usually 5 days, but may be less depending on the individual site). When your IP changes, simply log into domain discover's web site, and change the IP address of your registered host, as well as your own DNS database. -- Derek Martin Senior System Administrator SANS/GIAC GSEC Certified Mission Critical Linux martin at MissionCriticalLinux.com - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
